#Inktober 2023 Wrap-up
Inktober is awfully fun. I don’t always have time to participate but when I do I use it as an excuse to try new things. In this case, I followed my current passion and did a 1930’s detective theme.

I can see a story in these images, can’t you? It goes something like this—a chorine has engaged in some shady dealings but later regrets them. The gang running the extortion racket sends a hood to threaten her. She bravely resists but he tells her that if she doesn’t comply then her sister, a socialite who knows nothing of this, will be rubbed out. The girl finds a private detective to help her. He’s as much of a straight arrow as you’d wish for, he isn’t even fazed by her obvious charms. (Which places this story in the realm of “Speed Detective” rather than “Spicy Detective.”) There’s a confrontation with the gangland boss and his cronies, then a car chase which ends up at a wharf. The private cop and the girl are caught and locked up in a warehouse that’s then set ablaze. It’s a tense moment for the good guys but the detective busts his way out and they fall into the water. Back on land, there’s a shoot-out, and the detective and the girl manage to get away. The detective hero calls up an old friend on the police force and they stage a show-down with the gang. This final scene is a big shoot-out with lots of tommy guns. Several of the gang members are shot to pieces, including the boss. The others are taken away by the police but the chorine is accused of racketeering along with them. The private dick proves that she has nothing to do with the gang’s extortion racket and she’s set free. In the end she’s very grateful but he refuses her advances. “You’re not my type, doll,” he says as he makes his exit.
