Markers and Art

Thinking outside the box

I’m in one of those phases right now where I’m experimenting with art supplies—specifically art markers. I think the main reason for this is that I’ve been asking myself some questions about how I can improve my roster of art techniques. Below is my newest pulp copy, made with Tombow markers and colored pencils. I describe it in more detail in the audio. (All of my copies are Copyright, Sara Light-Waller, 2024. All Rights Reserved.)

Left: “Love Story Magazine,” cover art by Modest Stein, December 4, 1937 issue featuring “Bride of the Sheik.” Right: my copy created with Tombow markers and colored pencils. 9” x 12” in a Sillman and Birn watercolor sketchbook.

Here are some pulp copies I’ve made using a variety of different media.
