This is the Rocketeer coming to you with Podcast # 43. I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving, I certainly did. We’re in the home stretch for the end of 2024, if you can believe it! 2025 will be here before we know it and won’t that be something?
This week, I’m reviewing another vintage romance—“Mood for Love”—by Vivian Grey from 1937. Let me begin by saying that this is a book you can still buy—someone has scanned the original hardback and is selling it as a Print on Demand. Generally, I prefer to buy original hardbacks but in this case, the only copy for sale is quite costly. The reproduction volume isn’t cheap either but still more affordable than the original. You can get a copy for yourself on Amazon.
Characters in “Mood For Love” mentioned in the podcast:
Corliss Landry: the heroine
Norbert, “Norry”, Farson: Corliss’ elder brother
Serille: Corliss’ elder sister
Tony Carwright: the love interest
Bob Baird: the faithful lover
Vida Farson: Norry’s faithless wife
Magda Luray: the woman Tony loves
UPDATE!!
Thanks to a fellow pulp fan I have the answer to what name “Mood For Love” was originally published under in “Love Story Magazine!” It was “Leap Year Lady”!!! The story was serialized in six parts from November 21-December 26, 1936. Thank you, Lucynka!
Here is the cover from 11/21/36 featuring “Leap Year Lady.”
