Popular lowbrow literature, such as pulp stories, can tell us a lot about our culture. These stories were read by a wide cross-section and are great temporal markers. How have things changed over time? Literature will tell you.
This week, I’m talking about reinvigorating an old pulp-subgenre—occult detectives. With so much more information and acceptance today of esoteric and supernatural things, a new occult detective would have a lot of options!
