Great stuff.

Stay away from the oils, they make you 😵 unless you're outside.

One of my early loves in that genre, although not as OLD is John Bolton. I used to be a completist of a few creators of comic books and such, but have since dumped most of that load.

He embraces that style well in much of his earlier paintings. Used to wear a war era gas mask to deal with it, but his models didn't get that luxury.

I also dig Matt Wagner and Grendel. He's a fan of the early 1900s and art deco, but doesn't have the realistic depth.

Multi media!

😉😉

Thanks! :)

I used to paint in oils but my current small studio space can't handle them. I'm told by many that the new odorless turps are worth trying and perhaps I will at some point. But acrylics do the job well enough and they're much easier to handle all around.

I LOVED Matt Wagner's "Grendel"! He did work flat, but that suited the subject, I thought. I also liked "Mage" although didn't like the story of the new one very much--too mid-life crisis for my tastes. lol

John Bolton is quite good! How exciting that you collected him. :)

I've wanted to write a story for him to paint. He's gettin up there...

Neil Gaiman did a funny movie about him where he's played by someone else. But he makes a cameo as someone attending the art exhibit.

Met Matt Wagner and John K Snyder III at 2013 Denver Comic-Con!
