I have a Kuttner collection as well, but not vintage.

I've only read The Last Mimzy story... Will have to get it out again sometime. You've raved about him before.

He wrote "Mimsy Were the Borogoves" (1943) in collaboration with C. L. Moore. The story is far superior to the movie, IMHO. But that movie was also the trigger for me to read a bunch of Kutter's work! He was wonderful writer and his collabs with Moore produced some excellent fiction. If you were to ask me for a favorite of his I couldn't tell you, there were just too many. Although the short story, "Nothing But Gingerbread Left" (1943) is high on the list. You might like that one, it's a fascinating thought experiment about semantics.

It's in my collection.

The Last Mimzy Stories originally published as The Best of Henry Kuttner. Movie photo on cover... Ugh. Has a Ray Bradbury intro entitled "A Neglected Master" though. And I dig Ray as well.

Anyway, loved the movie as well. In our library. Samesies. I'll have to read it again and the rest...

Gingerbread GOOD. I love those games.

He certainly is a fan of "nonsense". Mentions The Jabberwocky immediately.

Have never read JJ's Finnegan's Wake and Beelzebub's Tales to his Grandson by GG was too much for me to plod through twenty years ago. Perhaps I should give it another go...

And the momeraths outgrabe.

Sweet.

I have some C.L. Moore on the pile right now! Judgment Night. Read the first story, of the book title, but took a detour to some Colin Wilson for a bit...

I'll be visiting Raleigh in a few weeks, for father-in-law's 80th birthday celebration.

Oh, the inequity of it all. We'll have to rename everything.

Judgment Night is a good collection. I think the story "Judgment Night" is my least favorite of the set. "The Code" is excellent as are "Promised Land" and "Heir Apparent." I think you'll like it. :) We're always renaming things to fit the current narrative. It's too bad we don't live in a more sane and stable world. lol

I look forward to them.

And some used bookstore shopping in NC... EBay can only scratch my itch but so much, and I'm a very particular kind of guy for condition. Pretty sure we've discussed that before.

A shame the thrift stores get so many of them and ship them in bags with no protection. Sacrilege!

Hopefully we get to live to see a "sane and stable world" emerging.

I do hope so, but it will probably take some time.

But what is "time" really?...

🤔

Excellent question! I think (and write) about that quite a bit. One of my new stories explores that very concept.
