Thank you. I've had a sad vibe of late. This reflects that. From the grandstanding of the political class to the coup in Syria ,to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and our worthlessly corrupted political and social landscape, my take on my fellow human beings has become worse, as if there's no hope for us. History teaches us nothing that helps us move forward. Instead it's weaponized to keep us from asking the hard questions about the validity of the history emphasized, and our continuing to ignore the more potent lessons history genuinely offers. We're easily led and refuse to accept our confusion and instead give in to an "all in" gambling hand with our wealth, emotion and loyalty, to whatever side we find most appealing to our well honed biases. I like how you step back and scrutinize the meme and research the essence of that meme to give it better context and dispel the nonsense associated with the popularized notion of the alleged intersectionality.

I used to be a hopeful person and I can still be, at times. Lately, it's almost like a trope, a joke I play on myself when I see how our species is so easily manipulated to accept and even cheer our worst antics, especially upon each other. Our human species is too big and diverse to engage in tribalistic behavior. That's especially true when we're encouraged to toss our vastly more shared experiences to focus tiny spotlights on smudges on the floor in a room so vast we can'y even count our numbers in attendance. Never mind that the smudges could easily be removed with the barest of cooperative efforts.

What an excellent comment, Rick. I hear you, the fog of delusion is thick. I have been criticized many times for stepping back and taking a wider view. (My Master’s Thesis is not in a university library because of this…) You could easily say that the “corrupters” have beaten us…but they haven’t. We may be weary but we are not done, so I believe. I have been thinking today about the value of storytellers vs journalists. I am both so I can look at both sides of the issue. We have had so much garbage poured down our throats by journalists—from both the regular news side and the alt press. What most don’t seem to realize is that humans are like arteries in the body. Press too hard and we collapse. Although that does serve the controler agenda it is something that “truthers” should take note of. Anyway, storytellers serve to keep those arteries open and pumping under these scary and sick conditions. I agree that we are too big a body to engage in tribalistic behavior, but that is exactly why it has been pushed. We fall apart into small “tribes” under those conditions. If you’ll take a recommendation from me, focus on your talents and skills for a bit and leave the others to do the same. With your own skills and talents sharpened, the mass of mess can’t sway you as easily. It’s hard to do under these conditions, no denying that. We are programmed up the wazoo to NOT do that. But you are a good soul and if you can’t do anything about those larger issues then you can’t. But you can be a better you. And a better you is a stronger you. And a stronger you is just what “they” don’t want. *insert unprintable curse here*—them. You be you. That’s what we need in the human collective right now.

Oh yes, the "alternative press"... I used to rely on them so much over the last decade, but now, wow. I guess they have their own confirmation bias that they too refuse to see (cue the Rachel Zegler actor, reviled by so many over her inane comments regarding her starring in the "live action" Snow White). Maybe by angst isn't helped by the lack of alternative voices I trust anymore. there are still few good ones, but that number shrinks practically daily. Thank you for the advice of focusing on my own creative efforts, too. That's exactly what happened over the last couple of days. The get away is remarkably comfortable, like a vacation. My characters have their messes to deal with, but they are only mine in that I created them and don't have to live within them.

Cheers!

I feel exactly the same when I write or paint. It does feel like a vacation! :)
