This week’s Rocketeer is a sort of hybrid podcast. I'm discussing how I was inspired by pulp artist, Edward Dalton Stevens and my to create new pulp paintings that feel like paintings from the pulp era of the early 20th century.
Similar style to Earle Bergey, who I'm more familiar with.
Was digging out my piles of mass market paperbacks, and came across the Ace doubles with flipside novellas. And have a handful of illustrated novels as well that are fun.
I actually know Bergey's grandson, Josh. I've made some copies of Earle Bergey's work in the past and Josh thinks his grandad would be flattered. I'm planning to make a copy of one of Bergey's "Startling Stories" covers on my fence or garage. I've already done a Frank R. Paul homage from "Amazing Stories" on one half of the garage. People like to look at it. :) https://flyingponystudios.com/index.php/new_works/murals/
The Ace Doubles with the flips are fab. I want to create a new one for an upcoming book and a re-released one of my other books. I'm not sure if I can pull that off but we'll see.
